Please add in a tile for daily patch check reminder . this should prompt care assistants to check if the patch is still in pace and what location they found it. Sometimes we see patch fell off from residents and if reported in time another patch can be applied without delay. Would help with CQC regulation - safety (medications)
Currently, PCS does not provide an option to record that a transdermal patch remains in situ; it only allows staff to document the date on which a patch is changed. Our local authority requires clear evidence that transdermal patches are being checked daily to ensure they remain in place, supporting safe administration and preventing underdosing.
In addition, we must also evidence when a transdermal patch is removed to demonstrate safeguards against potential overdosing.
At present, staff must enter this information manually in the daily notes, which is time-consuming and inconsistent. The introduction of dedicated PCS icons — for example, “Patch in Situ” and “Patch Removed” — would provide a quick, clear, and reliable way to record this essential safety information.
These icons would support:
Accurate daily monitoring
Compliance with local authority expectations
Improved clarity for inspectors
Reduced administrative burden for staff
I recommend adding these icons to enhance medication safety and streamline documentation.
