The new independent icon on the bowel charts is very helpful, however it will not appear if the resident is marked as being incontinent of ***** on their assessment tools but is independent with their toileting when it comes to opening their bowels. This means our bowel charts look like a lot of residents are constipated when in actual fact they are just independent with their bowel movements. Could this be altered please? Residents may be marked as incontinent as they have been in the past but are independent with their toileting unless they have an accident.
Totally agree. Our residents vary in being independent or needing assistance thus cannot set them up as independent.
Under toileting need an icon to use as 'independent' which will then transfer to bowel chart. At present we are using 'other' icon then manually writing a care note to document independent.
